Matt Tully has an interesting article in Friday’s Indianapolis Star “Peterson's full coffers put lid on GOP's hopes”.
Matt writes about Mayor Peterson’s fat pockets. He predicts that the Republican’s won’t be able to field a qualified candidate to run against Peterson. Tully refers to Peterson as “ The unbeatable mayor” and goes on to report that Mayor Peterson has 2.5 million in the bank.
I find it odd that Tully hardly mentions Indy’s escalating crime and the fact that Indy will soon have the honor of being the Murder Capital of America. Politics is a strange creature, so many think being Democrat or Republican is more important then saving our youth and maintaining Indianapolis as a safe place to live.
Mayor Peterson keeps referring to the fact that we haven’t released a jail prisoner early for months. If we have these extra beds, why aren't we taking more criminals off the street? If we have the jail space why not use it? Mayor Peterson is doing nothing to combat crime
When I was a child our city was segregated. African Americans lived in one part of town, Whites lived in another. I went to IPS and never had an African American classmate until 7 Th grade. Now most neighborhoods schools and churches are integrated. I think that all our youth are important? Drugs lead to Prostitution and theft. Prostitution and Theft leads back to Drugs and death surrounds all.
Bart Peterson has 2.5 million in the bank to run for Mayor of Indianapolis. Are you willing to sell the souls of your loved ones so he can play Mayor.
This isn't a Black or White thing. This is a community thing and we need a change before it’s too late.
Whoever the Republican Party Slates for Mayor needs your consideration. Do you want a safe place for your loved ones?

As Matt Tully said, Bart has the business' support. Knowing this 'Rat he basically said to many businesses just like the Chicago mayor would do - "if you want police and fire protection, contribute to my campaign" and so they did.
$1.5 million or so of taxpayer money from the City of Gary thru a NIPSCO deal doesn't hurt either. Then you have Tom McDermott of Hammond raising money for Bart on the promise he'll get the LTG nod in 2008 when Bart takes on Gov. Daniels for control of the State.
Good start. I find two things interesting.
1. The Mayor is spending money like it is a credit card. The Hotel $40 mill bill will be on bonds to be paid back in full plus interest, the OLD and NEW Stadium paid by taxes with LOTS of interest. The $400 mill he just asked for will be paid for with lots of interest.
2. The Star NOW shows all of this interest in having a "Fair" and "Competitive" campaign between both sides for the voters. Where was this compassion for the voters last year in the congressional race. They do not want a RACE - they just want to campaigns to spend AD $'s with the star so they can make money - period.
Keep shining the light of Truth on Indy . . . People will start to see things as they truely are.
Matt Tully is a joke. Quit reading his "week old" news long ago. I would suggest you do the same.
I agree Mike B, but you have to add that all the Star is looking for is fodder. Run a Republican so we can trash them and give the known "dumpster divers" in this town something to do for the day.
Politics is cyclical. Too many hands will be caught in the cookie jar and then people will begin to wake up. When will that be? Hard to say, but it will come.
Moderator, I only ask that you don't let this turn in to trash talk. If it doesn't contribute to the topic, don't post it. Too many good blogs in town are turning into it when what is needed is good, open, conversation.
I agree with Corina.
Mayor Peterson will be going to Congress to join his buddy Evan Bayh in 2008. Julia Carson will not be returning after this term.
He will be able sit there for 30 years like Andy Jacobs and not have to work to hard to get reelected.
The mayor is a jackazz and so are the people who keep electing him.
